If it’s vintage and involves a Poodle there’s a 90% chance it qualifies as pure Kitsch. In the 1950’s and 60’s there were as many Poodle pitchers and vases as real dogs. The more textured, flocked or pink the canine, the better the pedigree. The perfectly-postioned-for-Kitsch-fluff balls at the end of their appendages qualified Poodles as instant icons for the Kitsch driven Age of Atomic and Mod.

what do i love the most? the fabulous vase? the amazing tabletop? the pink booth? i could never choose…..but, i can say that i am in love with the cat and her(?) extremely sarcastic expression!

Ditto Windupkitty! I am in love with that cat and her divinely purrfect sarcastic expression too! Ms. Poodlevase better watch her back…

The kitty is Niblet. I just took that photo this morning. A friend of mine nicknamed her Mixed Feeling because she’s only capable of one feeling at a time and changes her mind the second she gets what she wants. i.e. incessant meowing to jump on your lap and jumping down as soon as you finally pick her up. She is very sweet other than she hates her mother, Nibbles, who as a stray gave birth to her on my roof.

While the poodle is fabulous, it’s the cat that sells the photo – perfectly composed and her expression is priceless. Way to go Allee!! Keep the kitsch coming.

And the kitty says “I HATE THAT DOG, REAL OR NOT! Just watch me while I sneak up on it and…bam it’s a dead fake doggie!!! Meow, purrr, who me I didn’t do nothin…”

No honestly, this IS some REAL Kitch going on here!
