Swear to God, this week Coldstone introduced some of the cold stuff that turns into pudding and never melts. Only available through July 28th, this joint venture with the King of Kitsch foodstuffs, JELL-O, has the texture of pudding but is cold like ice cream and stuffed into cones or cups. Jello Pudding Ice Cream, as this test monkey is known, comes in Chocolate-y Goodness™ with peanut butter, caramel and fudge and Butterscotch Velvet™ with Butterfingers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and caramel. I’ll miss the drips but look forward to even more chemicals lighting my system up. I’ll have some red balls Orbitz to wash that down with, please!
For recipes using the new chemical treat go here. Really.

Wow That sounds totally unpleasant. When I was in the States last summer my friend took me to Coldstone cos she knows what an ice cream freak I am. We walked out of there with nothing because their wares were so full of food colouring I really didnt want to eat any of it. I thought it all looked like Play-Doh! European ices, seem much paler and to me, thats more appetizing.
Did you know that in Turkey they make ice cream that doesnt melt easily too They use a high proportion of (iirc) Gum Arabic in their ices which makes it kind of chewy and stretchy and bouncy! Sounds horrible to me.

wow…yeah, this stuff looks toxic! (which I kinda like, but wouldn’t eat!!) i’m a big fan of Treat Ice Cream (made here in Northern Cal for nearly 60 years)….it’s super yummy and as long as we’re talking international ice cream anecdotes; the Tin Roof Sundae flavor is the sublime example of Americans and our fondness for over-the-top-super-rich-junk-food bliss! It’s all natural though (so good for you, of course) and not always easy to get….i purposefully don’t buy it these days as it when it’s in the freezer, i’m more animal than man (or woman depending on how you look at it)……I”m pretty sure that Tin Roof Sundae has saved lives…..
