This Coming Wednesday Night 2/20 at 7 PM. Allee Willis In Conversation With Beth Lapides

February 18, 2019

Looking forward to this coming Wednesday night 2/20 at 7 PM when I’m being interviewed by the Supreme Mistress of #Uncabaret, the ever-wonderful Beth Lapides, in the very chic West Hollywood City Council Chambers in the West Hollywood Library. I will be grilled – in the most loving way possible of course – by Beth about my career, my friends, my records, my everything. And it’s FREE thanks to Visit West Hollywood. So come on down or across or from wherever you’re nesting and we’ll see you there!

My birthday pajama party in the early 90’s with JONI MITCHELL and the DEL RUBIO TRIPLETS

December 7, 2018

This is one of my fave photos of all time, not just because I’m singing with JONI MITCHELL at my birthday pajama party in the early 90’s but because we’re being accompanied by the infamous and wonderful DEL RUBIO TRIPLETS, who I’m happily credited with discovering. If you don’t know them, get googling as they sit high atop the Kitsch Sundae that is my life. To say the hi and lo ends of the musical scale are represented in this photo doesn’t begin to describe the musical mayhem we created that night. #TBT

Celebrated part of my birthday at the opening of The Color Purple Musical

November 12, 2018

Celebrated part of my birthday at the opening of The Color Purple Musical at the Greenway Court Theatre in LA Saturday night. Show was great but my favorite part was when the cast serenaded me with Happy Birthday. Thank you Celie, Shug, Sofia, Harpo, Mister, Church Ladies and the whole TCP community! It was a great place to be as another year gets ripped off the calendar. Quick songwriter alert: I was thrilled to have Mike Stoller, one of the greatest songwriters of all time, at the show and staying for cake (bottom right). (“Stand By Me, ”Hound Dog,” “On Broadway,” “Spanish Harlem,” and a zilllllllion more.)

Allee Willis Shines At SHOF Master Session At USC

October 25, 2018

I had as great a time as it sounds like everyone else did at University of Southern California a couple weeks ago when Patrice “Forget Me Nots” Rushen interviewed me in front of students enrolled in the music program and their elders who were visiting for Parents Weekend. Thank you Songwriters Hall of Fame and USC’s Popular Music Program at the USC Thornton School of Music, and, of course Patrice, now their professor (these are very lucky students!) who orchestrated the whole thing – the program, the interview, and the arrangements for the medleys of my songs ‘September”, “Boogie Wonderland,” “Neutron Dance,” and “I’ll Be There For You (the FRIENDS theme)” which the students performed brilliantly. You can read more about the festivities here:
