Doing the chicken run with Jenji Kohan at the Los Angeles Times Fried Chicken Bowl a couple weekends ago. Google her if you don’t know the brilliant TV shows she’s created like Orange Is the New Black, Weeds and more. We discovered our obsession with great fried chicken the first time we met and have kept lists of restaurants we planned to take a day trip hitting. The Chicken Bowl was one-stop shopping, with 10 different takes on the fried fowl. Jenji and I were told we had to meet a few years ago by one of the stars of both of our creations, the beyond wonderful Danielle Brooks, Sofia in The Color Purple and Taystee in OITNB.
