It was one of those rare times in Detroit \u2013 the real Detroit, not the \u201cthis is how we see Detroit\u201d Detroit, not the \u201cnew Detroit, devoid of Detroiters\u201d Detroit, not the \u201cit was really diverse with 10% Black people\u201d Detroit. This was Detroit in all of its \u201cBlack people and Other People of Color and Cool White Folks\u201d Detroit glory,&#8230; I daresay that this may be a nodal point in Detroit events, a kind of before and after against which other events will be compared.&#8221;<br><cite>&#8211; Marsha Music,Detroit luminary<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition to screenings of &#8220;The D,&#8221; we sang sing-alongs to my greatest hits, including &#8220;September,&#8221; &#8220;Boogie Wonderland,&#8221; &#8220;I&#8217;ll Be There for You&#8221; (the Friends theme), &#8220;Neutron Dance,&#8221; and &#8220;What Have I Done to Deserve This?,\u201d paid a Motown tribute to Funk Brother Paul Riser, watched performances by Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit, and pigged out on Boogaloo Wonderland sandwiches, a Detroit staple partially named for my hit &#8220;Boogie Wonderland&#8221;.
