The color scheme is fantastic and phrases like “perfect for use in the new soft drink can!” make this a ticking timepiece for the Atomic Age.<\/p>\n
According to Wikipedia, the inventor, Joseph Friedman, “observed his young daughter Judith at the counter, struggling to drink out of a straight straw. He took a paper straight straw, inserted a screw and using dental floss, he wrapped the paper into the screw threads, creating corrugations. After removing the screw, the altered paper straw would bend conveniently over the edge of the glass, allowing small children to better reach their beverages.”<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9373\" title=\"flex-straws_1704\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1704.jpg\" alt=\"flex-straws_1704\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1704.jpg 338w, https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1704-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9377\" title=\"flex-straws_1706\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1706.jpg\" alt=\"flex-straws_1706\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1706.jpg 375w, https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1706-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9375\" title=\"flex-straws_1700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1700.jpg\" alt=\"flex-straws_1700\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1700.jpg 450w, https:\/\/alleewillis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/flex-straws_1700-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I can’t tell you how many Flex-straws I went through as a kid seeing how far I could bend them before the passage of liquid was no longer possible.
