This is one of those cardboard triangles you might find in a restaurant or bar to promote a particular brand of beverage. The date on the bottom is 1977.

What Allee has to say about this:
I’m plotzing from this! This is the kind of thing that makes my fingertips itch just by looking at it it’s so perfect for what I collect. Lou’s afro is perfectly carved, he’s holding a 24 track tape. the label of which is Philadelphia International Records, one of the most influential soul labels ever, the color retouching is perfect, and it’s for beer! It doesn’t get any better in the soul kitsch department.

I have a similar Budweiser cardboard sign. Mine’s probably a couple years earlier with two gals in miniskirts and one sharp guy. It says “Open up with Budweiser malt liquor… The Soul Grabber”.

Kudos on your excellent photos as well.

Looks like ol’ Lou had something of his own to promote. I think this is what you call a win-win situation! If the King of Beers can make me as smooth as the late, great Lou Rawls then I’ll have what Lou’s having!
