As a teenager back in the 70’s I (like most other teenage guys) had a poster of Farrah Fawcett adorning the wall of my bedroom.
Even better was this that I found at a used/antique store back in the late 80’s.
I don’t know very much about this other than it was for girls to practice applying makeup and styling the hair.
She is 10′ tall and beautiful !!
What Allee has to say about this:
This set off a trend that still continues in toy beauty styling centers. I’ve owned a few of these through the years. When I was in my found objects collage phase I used to customize them. I used one of the rip-off models for a prop on “Just Say Julie”, MTV’s first video clip show starring uptown Julie Brown, 1989-91. (You can see it at http://www.alleewillis.com/art/sets-props/index.htm. That’s a Flash page so click the Just Say Julie button and then scroll through the photos til you get to the ratty haired doll with the 1952 Chevy side mirror sticking out of its head.)
Anyway, I always loved this item because it looked so exactly like Farrah. That amount of hair always scares me but because it’s Farrah I’ll let it slide. |
